Malabar spinach does not have oxalate crystals in its leaves. It is a member of the Basellaceae family. Only members of the Amaranthaceae family, which includes Swiss Chard, and beets, contain oxalate crystals in their leaves.
Malabar spinach is a vining plants that loves warm weather. The leaves can be eaten raw or cooked.
